RoboSeeds

Your child's first robot, built with their own hands.

Duration
12 sessions
Format
In-school & weekend batches

The very first step on the NEbots robotics path. Students meet the micro:bit, a real microcontroller used in classrooms worldwide, and use drag-and-drop blocks to make it sense light, sound and movement. Nothing is simulated. By the end of the course every child has built a robot that reacts to the world around it, and can explain how it works.

You will build

  • A badge that lights up with your name and your own animations
  • A step counter you wear and test around the room
  • A robot that drives, turns and stops when it senses an obstacle
  • A team project presented to parents on showcase day

All micro:bit kits, motors, sensors and batteries are provided during class. Students take their final build home at the end of the level.

The course roadmap

6 levels, from your first spark to showcase day. Follow the trail.

  1. 1
    Level 1

    Meet your micro:bit

Light up the LED grid, write your name in code, and learn what a microcontroller actually is.

  2. 2
    Level 2

    Inputs and outputs

Buttons, shake, light and temperature. Make the board react to what you do to it.

  3. 3
    Level 3

    Wire it up

Crocodile clips, buzzers and motors. Your first real circuit, built and debugged by hand.

  4. 4
    Level 4

    It moves

Mount the board on a chassis and drive it. Steering, speed and stopping, all in code.

  5. 5
    Level 5

    It senses

Add an obstacle sensor so the robot decides for itself when to turn.

  6. 6
    Level 6

    Showcase day

Teams demonstrate their robots to parents and explain how each part works.

  7. Finish line

    You did it!

Show off what you built, take your projects home, and level up to the next stage.

Then what?
