SkyRoots

From pilot to drone engineer.

Duration
16 sessions
Format
Weekend batches

Flying is the easy part. This course is about everything underneath it. Students build a drone from loose components, configure the flight controller, tune it until it holds steady, and then repair it when they crash it, which they will. It is the closest thing to an apprenticeship we run, and it points directly at a sector that is hiring in India right now.

You will build

  • A drone assembled from bare components by you
  • A tuned flight controller configuration you can explain line by line
  • A repair log covering at least one failure you diagnosed and fixed
  • A capstone flight demonstrating a mission you designed

Frames, motors, ESCs, flight controllers and batteries are provided, along with the soldering and tuning equipment. Spare parts for repairs are included.

The course roadmap

7 levels, from your first spark to showcase day. Follow the trail.

  1. 1
    Level 1

    Anatomy of a drone

Every component, what it does, and how they fail.

  2. 2
    Level 2

    Build the airframe

Frame, motors and ESCs, assembled and soldered by hand.

  3. 3
    Level 3

    The flight controller

Firmware, calibration and what all those settings actually change.

  4. 4
    Level 4

    Tuning

Make it hold steady instead of wobbling. The difference between parts and a drone.

  5. 5
    Level 5

    Diagnose and repair

It will break. Learn to find the fault and fix it properly.

  6. 6
    Level 6

    Design a mission

Plan a flight with a purpose: survey, inspect or deliver something.

  7. 7
    Level 7

    Capstone flight

Fly the mission you designed, on the drone you built, and debrief it.

  8. Finish line

    You did it!

Show off what you built, take your projects home, and level up to the next stage.

Then what?
